Episode 005 Recording and Show Notes

This week Mike & Susie hosted the 5th episode of "About TIME & Beyond!". We covered a wide range of topics from the upcoming #ACTEM15, #LL2015, and #MAMLE15 conferences to an app chat portion to share out fun tools to continuing our discussion about pre-service teacher preparation. It was a packed episode and we wrapped up in just under 45 minutes. Thank you to those of you who joined us! Missed out? You can view the recording below and check out of show notes from the broadcast here.

Our next official broadcast will be held on November 4th at 3:30PM, which is the first Wednesday of the Monday. Check out the event page here and join us! Episode #4 is Coming Next Week! (Rescheduled)

I always get to this time of year amazed at how fast the summer has flown by. And how little I got accomplished from my endless to do list in the past 2 months. Much can be said about our 4th episode of "About TIME & Beyond!" which was previously scheduled for this afternoon. Mike and I decided to move it ahead to next week to give everyone a bit more time to get settled in to the year (and me a bit more time to get my head in the game).

We have a bunch of topics on the agenda including ISTE 2015, the MLTI Summer Conference, and any other PD you have taken advantage of this summer as well as chatting about our summer book club book "Teach Like a Pirate!". We'll also be continuing our chat about teacher preparedness for our technology rich classrooms. Have something you'd like to chat about? Add it as a comment on our show page to join in the fun!

Join our summer book club!

During our last broadcast, Mike brought up the idea of doing a summer book club and it was well received. So, we're going to get it going! This summer we're going to be reading "Teach Like a Pirate: Increase Student Engagement, Boost Your Creativity, and Transform Your Life as an Educator" from Dave Burgess. It's been getting rave reviews for a while now so, if you haven't read it yet now is your time! As you read it this summer, feel free to use #AboutTIME207 in your social media posts to keep the conversation going. We are definitely going to be talking about it during our first broadcast this fall and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

You can grab your copy from Amazon using either of the links below. They have it available in paperback or ebook format and, if you are a Kindle user, you can borrow it from the Kindle lending library or grab it from Kindle Unlimited if you are a subscriber.

That's a wrap on season 1!

Yesterday we wrapped up our first season of "About TIME & Beyond!" with our third episode. This all started as an idea shared during the rush hour drive back from Google Jamboree in Cambridge, which was hosted by EdTechTeacher in February. I'm so glad we got it off the ground and are making it happen.

Here is a look back at yesterday's episode.

Summer Reading Club

During yesterday's final broadcast on the academic year, episode 003, Mike brought up having a book club this summer to read one of the popular books that have been chatted about lately. Teach like a Pirate, Ditch the Textbook... there are lots of awesome sounding books out there! If you are interested in reading along with us, please check out the poll on our Google+ page and chime in with what you think we should read. I'm looking forward to it!

Getting Ready for Episode 3 and the School Year Wrap Up!

It's hard to believe that the 2014-15 academic year is coming to a close in the next few weeks. It feels like just yesterday I was presenting, nervously, at ACTEM14 for the first time followed by MAMLE. And then the long ride in rush hour traffic with my cohost, Mike Arsenault, from the Google Jamboree in Cambridge back in February. Really? February? It feels like yesterday.

Today we'll be wrapping up our first "season" of About TIME & Beyond! with our third episode. Mike and I will be finalizing our agenda this afternoon and we've got a lot on the list so far! Right now our topics range from some new tools I've (re)discovered since our May broadcast, a review of upcoming PD opportunities, talking about some tasks to take care of to tidy up your digital classroom, and also our on going conversation about how to help prepare our future coworkers for technology rich classrooms. Oh, and lets not forget a preview of what is to come at ACTEM15 now that presenters have been notified of what sessions have been accepted. PHEW! It's going to be a very full hour.

Be sure to join us this afternoon at 3:30PM or catch the broadcast on YouTube later!

Episode 2! Pear Deck, Nuzzle, Education on Air...

We're all ready to go with our second episode today at 3:30PM! Our agenda is here and the event page for the Hangout on Air is up, too. We'll be chatting about Pear Deck, Nuzzle, and Google's Education on Air and anything else as time allows. YIPEE!
